This design was created to complement a coarse-knitted waistcoat, in which the main colours were olive green, brown, flecks of brick and cerulean blue. The large plain area picks out the blue flecks in the waistcoat and the smoothness of the silk complements the rough knitted texture. The random clusters of brown and green nuts and the narrow border link to the other colours in the wool without being too formal.
